Grassley: More than $1 million to Iowa in loans and grants from USDA


  

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development has awarded loans and grants totaling $1,058,210 to Dows, Kamrar and Storm Lake through the Community Facility Guaranteed Loan Program and the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program.

 

“These funds will help provide better facilities and services to the residents of these rural Iowa areas,” Grassley said.

 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development has awarded funds to facilitate various projects, as described below.

 

·        A $10,550 grant to Dows to purchase and install generator hookups for the water treatment plant and wastewater treatment facility in case of an electrical outage during an emergency or local disaster through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program.

 

·        A $6,660 grant to Kamrar to purchase an emergency warning siren and equipment through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program.

 

·        A $401,000 guaranteed loan and $640,000 direct loan to the United Community Health Center in Storm Lake to construct a new medical clinic with a purpose of administering health care to the underinsured, uninsured, and underserved residents of Storm Lake and surrounding communities through the Community Facility Guaranteed Loan Program.
