WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration has approved a request for $3,341,900 in Trade Adjustment Assistance reserve training and administration funds to Iowa Workforce Development.
"These funds will be a helping hand up to workers so they can receive training for new skills and can better compete for new jobs in the future," Grassley said.
The reserve training and administration funds will be available to assist approximately 1,005 trade-affected dislocated workers in Iowa.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program is a federal program that provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports. The Trade Adjustment Assistance program offers a variety of benefits and reemployment services to help unemployed workers prepare for and obtain suitable employment. Workers may be eligible for training, job search and relocation allowances, income support, and other reemployment services.
