WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released $3,793,548 to the University of Iowa for the Iowa Institute for Biomedical Discovery. The funds were awarded through the fiscal 2008 congressional appropriations process.
The University of Iowa will use the funds to help build a biomedical research facility focused on chronic and acute health conditions to cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurosciences and aging.
“The University of Iowa is on the cutting edge when it comes to biomedical research, and this facility will bring together the experts to find new therapies to chronic health diseases,” Grassley said.
