Grassley Takes Careful Approach to Prescription Drug Coverage

Funding Approved for Fire Departments in Low Moor, Creston, Graettinger

? Sen. Chuck Grassley today announced that three fire departments in Iowa will receive matching grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The funding is designed to help local fire departments acquire personal protective equipment for firefighters. It became available under the Assistance to Firefighters Program, which is designed to reach rural, urban and suburban fire departments.

"Iowa's firefighters perform a dangerous job to protect lives and property," Grassley said. "I'm glad to see them receive funding to help protect themselves from death and injury in the cause of duty."

The communities that received funding and the amounts of the federal grants are:

  • $44,352 to the Low Moor Volunteer Fire Department
  • $4,450 to the Creston Fire Department
  • $80,303 to the Graettinger Benefited Fire District, Fire Department
