Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.  

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the Cedar Rapids City Council; the Congressional Leadership Conference; Iowa TRiO; the International Women’s Day Conference; the Educational Theater Association; the Iowa Talented and Gifted Association; Iowa’s Council for Agriculture Research, Extension and Teaching; city governments from Iowa City, Bettendorf and Des Moines; the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Chapter of the Tourette Association.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa students visiting Washington, D.C., from Central College in Pella. 

Senator Grassley will be a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Sean Secrease and Quaid on WTAD radio in Quincy, Jeff Stein on KXEL radio in Waterloo, Theresa Rose on KILJ radio in Mt. Pleasant and Bob Leonard on KNIA/KRLS radio in Knoxville/Pella. 

On Wednesday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee hearing on “Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice.”  Attorney General Loretta Lynch will testify.  Grassley will focus on the President’s illegal attempts to move GITMO detainees to United States prisons, Grassley’s FBI Whistleblower bill and encryption.

On Wednesday, March 9, at 2 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust hearing on “Oversight of the Enforcement of Antitrust Laws.”  Grassley will look to discuss with the hearing witnesses the concerns about competition in the agriculture sector and pay for delay agreements where brand name drug companies pay generic drug companies to delay marketing lower cost generic drugs.  

On Wednesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will speak to the American Wind Energy Association reception.  Senator Grassley wrote and won enactment of the first-ever wind energy production tax credit in 1992.  He’s worked to extend the credit ever since. Last year, he secured a five-year extension that gives the certainty needed for investment and job creation, meant to lead to a phase-out of the credit as the industry continues to mature.

On Thursday, March 10, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The committee may consider S. 247, the Expatriate Terrorist Act, sponsored by Senators Ted Cruz, Grassley, Mike Lee and Roy Blunt, and S. 2390, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2015, sponsored by Senators Grassley, Patrick Leahy, Thom Tillis, Ron Wyden, Mark Kirk, Claire McCaskill and Ron Johnson.  The committee may also consider the nominations of Elizabeth J. Drake to be a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade, Jennifer Choe Groves to be a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade, Gary Stephen Katzmann to be a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade and Clare E. Connors to be United States District Judge for the District of Hawaii. 

On Thursday, March 10, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “HealthCare.gov: A Review of Operations and Enrollment.”
