WASHINGTON - Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University has received three competitive grants totaling $1,011,790 from the National Science Foundation.
Iowa State University will use the money as shown below.
• $311,790 to fund the project, “REU Site: Sustainable Production and Processing Systems for Biomass-Deprived Fuels of the Future.”
• $300,000 to fund the project, “Collaborative research: Construction of a continuous, high resolution and absolutely-dated marine chronology from the Gulf of Maine during the last millennium.”
• $400,000 to the project, “Problem Framing in Engineering Problem Solving.”
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
