Nearly $1.5 Million to Iowa State University

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $1,483,333 competitive grant to Iowa State University through the Special Education Research Grants Program.

“This project should provide special education teachers a better way to monitor student progress in Algebra,” Grassley said.  “Iowa State has a history of conducting great research.  These funds will them continue that tradition.”

Iowa State University will use the funds for a special education research project titled, “Professional Development for Algebra Progress Monitoring.”  According to the abstract provided by the Department of Education, the project builds upon a previous federal investment in the development of algebra progress monitoring measures by establishing an efficient and accessible online professional development system that provides teachers of students with disabilities the tools, training, and support needed to effectively monitor their students’ progress in algebra.
