WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded four competitive grants totaling $2,585,070 to the University of Iowa.
The University of Iowa will use the money as shown below.
· $1,625,965 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroketo help pay for a project titled, "High-throughput Genetic & Small-molecule Screening for Therapeutic Modifiers."
· $457,878 from the National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research to help pay for a project titled, "First Preventive Dental Visit: Disparities in Needs, Costs and Behavioral Insights."
· $318,916 from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to help pay for a project titled, "Effects of Pesticides on Prostate Cancer Progression in PTEN Mutant Mice."
· $182,311 from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases to help pay for a project titled, "Biomarkers of the Risk for Post-traumatic Osteoarthritis."
