Over $2 Million to Carroll & Cedar Rapids

WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded two grants totaling $2,705,443 to airports in Carroll and Cedar Rapids.

“This funding is intended to increase the safety and efficiency of these airports, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in these communities,” Grassley said.

The funds will be distributed as follows:

• The Arthur N. Neu Airport in Carroll will receive $1,533,250 for taxiway construction • The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids will receive $1,172,193 for runway rehabilitation

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
