Workers in Murray Eligible for Assistance

WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that workers in Murray are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance.

"This assistance will help provide training and new skills to the workers at Group Dekko so they can get back on their feet and compete for new jobs in the future," Grassley said.

Workers from Group Dekko in Murray along with on-site leased workers of Grapevine Staffing and Advance Services who totally or partially lose their jobs on or after May 20, 2008 through two years from the date of certification are eligible to apply for adjustment assistance.

Workers can access these benefits by going to the local one-stop career center.  The closest career center can be found by visiting www.servicelocator.org and entering the zip code.  The closest career center to Murray is the Iowa Workforce Development Center located at 2520 West McLane Street in Osceola.

The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program is a federal program that provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports. The Trade Adjustment Assistance program offers a variety of benefits and reemployment services to help unemployed workers prepare for and obtain suitable employment. Workers may be eligible for training, job search and relocation allowances, income support, and other reemployment services.
