$714,000 Released to Des Moines Public Schools

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Education has released $714,000 to the Des Moines Independent Community School District.

"These funds will help kids in Des Moines go to preschool and get a quality start to their education," Grassley said.

The Des Moines Independent Community School District will use the money to help expand pre-kindergarten programs available to low-income families by increasing the number of teachers certified in early childhood education, upgrading curriculum to incorporate more research-based methods and materials, and improving programs to meet state and national standards for early childhood education.
