WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded competitive grants totaling $731,989 to Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.
The funds will be distributed as shown below.
· Iowa State University will receive $341,945 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to help pay for an allergy, immunology, and transplantation research project titled, "Structural Studies of Ebola VP35 Mediated Immune Evasion Mechanisms."
· The University of Iowa will receive $390,044 from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases to help pay for a research project titled, "Tensor Scale-based methods for Assessment of Trabecular Bone Quality."
