WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $35,554 grant to the University of Iowa through the Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad Fellowship Program.
“These funds will help faculty at the University of Iowa learn through research abroad and then bring that knowledge back to the classroom to share with students,” Grassley said.
According to the Department of Education, the University of Iowa will use the grant to fund a translation of, and commentary on, Candrakirti’s presentation of the doctrine of the selflessness of persons in his Madhyamakavatarabhasya.
The Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad Fellowship Program offers opportunities to faculty of institutions of higher education to engage in research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies.
