WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded funding totaling $152,534,261.65 to the University of Iowa.
According to FEMA, the university will use $1,482,030.85 to install and decommission eight temporary air-cooled chillers, which are necessary for the school’s heating and air conditioning systems; $27,051,015.60 to replace the Art Building Campus; and $124,001,215.20 to replace the Hancher Voxman Clapp Music Complex
“These funds should help the University of Iowa return its campus to its pre-flood state,” Grassley said.
FEMA obligates funding for these projects directly to the state. It is the state's responsibility to ensure that the eligible sub-grantees receive these awards. FEMA is contributing 90 percent of the total cost of these projects.
